It was by chance that we get to join this event and start our first job as security officer, I happen to see the job posting on Facebook and forward to Rizal. Rizal was surprised and told me that it is a very good ad hoc event job as the rate is high and they allow us to sit if there are not much crowd. I was not very keen at that time but since Rizal is very interested so I told him that we will go try it out, as he had already done a few ad hoc event job and got more experience than me I figure he would make the best decision.

Johnson join later maybe he was informed about it by Tan as he always share a lot of good lobang with Tan, both Matthew and Tan doesn't seem to be interested at that time but I manage to convince Matthew to join after one other guy drop out last minute when we go to the location to survey the site. One thing good about him is that he always make sure he know the site well before he decided to take up the job offer and we had a lot of discussion about it.

I had a few experience with event operation during my school days when I work part time during my school holiday when I study at Singapore Polytechnic, I had been very interested in most event operation since then and keep observing and learn about different type of events and their site operation even though I am not directly involve. A few of the recent one are Montigo Drink Your Way Up Pop Up at Bugis Junction and Hello Kitty Move Lite Adventure at One Holland Village.

It is a pity that I might not be able to participate in the recent Simply Go Adventure Quest due to many life commitment, but I will still try to observe it and learn something new from it if possible. The next few events we are going to get involve will be the Gastro Beat this month, Pop Mart Event in August, F1 Race in October and Comic Con in December, hopefully we will be able to get more opportunities to get involve in more events so that we can get more knowledge and experience before we start to consider doing permanent security job after we get 6 months experience to promote our rank from Security Officer to Senior Security Officer.

We had already completed all our courses require for Senior Security Supervisor and I am still trying to encourage them to take up some additional courses which will help in widening their job scope in the future, I am also planning to do some event jobs which are not related to security so that I am able to gain more knowledge and experience without affecting my notifications for security jobs. But that is a bit long winded and I had not even go into the topic for this event till now, I will do it as a Security Operation Deployment Briefing with Operations Order and Action Plan as what we did in COBD (Conduct Operation Briefing and Debriefing) course to make it more convincing and also prepare for my future job as a Security Supervisor.

Operations Order:

a) The planned manpower deployment for the day of event is aligned to:

    - Client Requirement

    - Health and Safety Considerations of Security Officers

    - Fair Distribution of Duties among Serurity Officers

    - Employment Act Requirements

b) The Event requires 1 Security Supervisor and 4 Security Officers each day for 2 days. Officers will be deployed at Strategic Locations. The Daily Deployment will be rotated hourly, with breaks in between. Reporting time is 1000 hrs and Stand Down time is 2000 hrs.

c) Client requires us to maintain Crowd Control orderly, manage disorderly behavior, prevent theft, marshaling traffic and response to other security matters.

d) The Event will start from 1100 hrs to 2000 hrs. With an hour more for reporting and stand down. 1 Relief Supervisor and 2 Relief Security Officers will be arranged to cover those on rest days and absentees.

e) We will comply Workplace Safety and Health Act by doing Safety Risk Assessment. There will be First Aid Box and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Officers will be given Walkie Talkie and Personal Protective Equipment to perform their duties.

f) For the Operation Order, Participants will be briefed on:

    - Situation

    - Mission and Objectives of the Event

    - Principal Considerations of the Event

    - Concept of Operations

    - Deployment of Security Personnel

    - Coordinating Instructions

    - Command Structure

    - Logistics and Administration

As you can see from the above Action Plan, the timing and date for the Briefing and Debriefing are not as per our usual standard mainly because our client are more easy going and doesn't really bother so much about the procedure. We are very lucky to have the chance to participate in this event and looking forward to engage in their future events as it will be a very good chance for us to learn and adapt to different kind of situations and the procedure to handle them.

 The whole event is consider quite easy and enjoyable as we are provided with very good benefits of very Atas Bento Set from the Hotel Staffs Kitchen, we are also allowed to sit when there are no much crowd. The Venue is also very comfortable with shelter and air conditioning. We will be expecting higher requirements for future events with bigger team and more manpower deployment as the venue become bigger and expecting a much larger crowd.

The first day morning is quite relaxing with Rizal station at the Level 1 Main Entrance with Sign Board to marshal the traffic toward our venue at Level 4 Ballroom, Matthew and me are station at the Entrance giving out Door Gifts, Stamp Rally Cards and Flyers for their Comic Con Event in Dec. Johnson is station at the Exit to prevent anybody from reentry in case we need to do Crowd Control to ensure the safety of all the visitors as it will be difficult to evacuate in case of any emergency if the amount of people exceed the limit of the design capacity of the exit point.

As the crowd is still coming in and we have to ensure that all our assigned duties are perform efficiently, we decided to delay our lunch hour till an hour later. After our lunch the crowd start to become larger as a lot of them get attracted to our location from Suntec City due to the spread of word within their own community, they felt that our site is much better and doesn't have to wait 2 hours in Queue. We started our Crowd Control duties in the afternoon with only one entrance and exit with 2 Security Officers at each location to let batch of 10 visitors to enter after the exit side confirm that 10 visitors had exit the venue.

As we do not have time to setup our Walkie Talkie, the Supervisor decided to activate Plan B of using the WhatsApp Group Chat for communication. We also cut off the Queue at around 1900 hrs and ask the remaining visitors to come back early the next day to avoid disappointment. We estimate about 600 to 800 visitors in the last 4 hours before we end the event as we are able to allow batch of 10 visitors to enter every 3 to 6 mins interval. We start to release the remaining 20 to 30 visitors to enter together at 1930 hrs so that they will get sufficient time to browse the stalls.

The second day seem a bit more manageable as we did not expect the long queue before the event start, some had explain that most of the visitors had to attend church in the morning and will only visit our venue in the afternoon. I decided to switch duties with Johnson in the morning and guard the exit so that everybody can gain different exposure for different duties which will be better for our future deployment with more personnel able to cover duties for each other. We switch back our duties in the afternoon after we had our lunch as we are going to expect more crowd in the afternoon and might activate for Crowd Control duties again if necessary.

To our surprise the Crowd Control didn't last as long as previous day with only about an hour or two before we call it off, the remaining hours became more free and easy for us all the way till the event ended. We encounter about 50 Security Officers doing duties for a Concert in the evening and try to find out some information from them to better fine tune our future manpower deployment for other events, overall it felt like a Black Suit Event with patrons wearing Slippers and Bermuda as the merchandise we are protecting are value from few thousands to millions.

Pikachu, I choose you. (A Pokemon Go Love Story)

Pokemon Go Server had gone live in Singapore on 6^th Aug 2016(Saturday), just three days before the SG 51 National Day. Mathew woke up by a Whatsapp Notification, he slowly drag his feet from the bed and walk to the desk where his phone is charging. His friend had send him a message that the long waited Pokemon Go Game has just started in Singapore, he quickly open his Google Play Store App and start the download of the Game while he wash up and get ready for a day of adventure.

They had use to play a argument reality game name Shadow Cities on iPhone quiet a few year back, but the Developer decided to shut down the server only after two years of operation. They had waited so long for another game which is similar and they are excited that it is finally here. Mathew had not been a big fan of Pokemon, but his friend had update him with so many information that they had research before the game was even launch in Singapore. They had expect it to be launch two weeks after it had went live in US and Australia, but it actually took one whole month for the server to finally went live in Singapore.

Mathew had pack some biscuits, water bottle and portable battery in his back pack before he set off to meet up with Ken at their favorite location Bugis Junction. Their plan is to explore around the town area and see what kind of Pokemon they are able to catch for the day. Ken was late as usual while Mathew wait at the fountain, he observe that the crowd had been bigger than usual as a lot of people had also start playing the game.

Just as he is deep in his thoughts, a rather cute girl who is playing Pokemon Go bump right into him.

“I am so sorry.” The girl said. “I am trying to catch this Zubat and I didn't notice you were standing there.”

“It's ok.” Mathew said. “I am just waiting for my friend here.”

“You don't play this Pokemon Go Game?” The girl ask.

“I had already downloaded the game, but my friend and I would like to test out a theory of getting Pikachu as starter Pokemon. So I had to wait for him to be here before we do that.” Mathew said.

“Really? I didn't knew that. I just choose Chamander instead because I find it cute. I would had choose Pikachu if I knew there is an option. By the way, My name is Fiona. My IGN is LunaVenus, it is a pleasure to meet you.” Fiona said

“Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus?” Mathew said. “You just gave me an idea for my IGN.”

Fiona just smile and proceed with her search for other Pokemon in the area, and Ken just finally decided to show up after making Mathew waited for almost 30 mins.

“I am sorry, the MRT had break down again.” Ken said.

“Oh Please! Skip the Bullshit. I got MyTransport App on my Phone, I will have receive some notification for that.” Mathew said. “Let get some lunch and start our journey as soon as possible.”

“McDonald or KFC?” Ken ask.

“Too crowded today, let go Ajisen instead.” Mathew said.

“Hey, you see that girl over there? She look kind of cute.” Ken said.

“Ya, her name is Fiona and her IGN is LunaVenus.” Mathew smile as he walk away.

“Hey, wait up!” Ken said. “Did you actually Pika her Chu and Poke her Mon?”

“I think you need a Brain Wash Machine for your coming Birthday.” Mathew said.

Ponggol Park and Yishun Park had become a Hot Spot for Pokemon Go, Mathew and Ken decided to celebrate their National Day at Ponggol Park to see if they are able to catch some Rare Pokemon.

“Damn! I really thought I could complete the Pokedex in over the weekend.” Ken said. “We are not even half way there man!”

“Nah! You didn't think the developer would make this game that easy.” Mathew said “We would be lucky if we are able to get 100 if we work hard enough today.

“Hey, don't that girl look familiar?” Ken said. “You think she is Fate or Destiny?”

“Come on! This is a popular spot for the game.” Mathew said. “Any hardcore player would had gather here for the Lure Party.”

Mathew quietly sneak up behind Fiona and give a light tap on her shoulder.

“Hi, My Name is Mathew. My IGN is ApolloMars.” Mathew said as Fiona turn around and look at him with surprise.

“You really brought me luck, I just caught a Snorlax.” Fiona said. “The CP is Low but I really hope it got good IV.”

“Nah! I think having a Good Skill Set is more important than IV.” Mathew said. “You would not want to waste your Stardust on it if the CP is low. Better wait until you are level 20 and hatch one from a 10 km egg, usually it will had 80% IV or more.”

“Wow! You are really an expert in this.” Fiona smile.

“Nah! The credit actually goes to my buddy Ken. He is a Big Fan of Pokemon.” Mathew said. “He is standing over there, let me intro him to you.”

“Hey Ken! Come over here.” Mathew shouted. “Fiona just got a Snorlax.”

Before they even realize, the whole crowd had stampede to their location before they are able to get out of the way. They manage to escape from being stomp and sat down at a Coffee Shop nearby to take a break from the crazy crowd at Ponggol Park. Ken start to brag about his expertise knowledge of the game and the day went by quickly and soon it was night fall.

“Let's head to Kallang River, we should be able to see Firework there.” Mathew said after they had their dinner.

So the three of them spend the reminder of the evening catching Abra and Vulpix along the Kallang River.

Mathew really enjoy Fiona company, he decided to ask her out for a date over the weekend.

“Hey Fiona, I was wondering if you would like to catch a Movie at Vivo City and catch some Dratini later?” Mathew call up Fiona and said.

“Sure, I will meet you at Starbuck Cafe.” Fiona said. “Would Ken be coming too?”

“Nah! Ken is down with Fever from catching Pokemon.” Mathew said. “It will be just you and me today, we can show off our Dragonite to him when we get back.”

Before they realize, they had been going out every weekend to various hot spot hunting Pokemon together. Fiona Birthday is coming and she haven't caught a Pikachu until now, Mathew decided to bring her to Universal Studio and he heard there had been frequent spawn of Pikachu over there. He had brought a few Lure Module with the Poke Coins which he had earn from the Gym Battle and decided to give Fiona a surprise when they arrive at the rumored Pikachu Nest.

Spending $74 on the entry ticket to the Theme Park just to catch Pokemon is crazy, but Mathew really wanted Fiona to feel special. As the Lure Module are activate at the Pokestop that surrounded them, Pikachu started to spawn to witness the couple special moment.

“Don't you want to catch Pikachu?” Mathew ask.

“Pikachu can wait, I choose you.” Fiona said as she gently kiss Mathew on the cheek.

KALLANG RIVER CLEAN-UP:

Guardian Angel (A Singapore Love Story)

Everything happens in your life for a reason. You might not realize it now, but eventually the truth will be reveal to you at the right moment. It is something they call Karma, Fate or Destiny. What you did in the past will lead to other events which are going to happen to you in the future. It is like wandering at the crossroad, the path which you choose will lead you to a destination. The choices you made in your life will decide you fate in the future. The only regret is that you can never travel back in time and you can never change the things you did. It is a one way path once you cross the point of no return.



Fiona woke up and found herself lying on the hospital bed. She should have been dead, but she was given a second chance in life. This chance doesn’t come easy; it was a sacrifice by someone she loves with all her heart.



She met him about three months ago, on Christmas Eve on a rainy night like this. She was stuck in the rain outside Orchard Paragon after her work, while the Christmas Carol sounds cheerfully in the background of the Shopping Mall. It always rain at these times of the year, she should have listen to her mother advice to bring an umbrella when she head for work from home this morning. She is going to be late for her class, but the rain doesn’t seem to understand her difficulty. Life is hard in a country like Singapore, the cost of living is high and the competition is fierce. You will not be able to survive if you do not upgrade yourself, you will not be able to last even a few months if you loose your job.



“Do you need a lift?”



Fiona wake up from her thought and saw a tall and handsome guy smiling and standing right in front of her.



“I am sorry; I was lost in my thought just now.” Fiona reply.



“I am heading to the MRT station; I can give you a lift if you want.” The guy said pointing to his umbrella.



How nice of him to lend a helping hand, Fiona thought. Most people are so busy with their own life that they seldom bother with other people problems anymore.



“I just need to get to the bus stop in front of the Heeren Shop.” Fiona reply.



“Sure, it is along the way.” The guy said as he open up his umbrella.



It was just a short walk from Orchard Paragon to the Heeren Shop, but it seem like eternity to her. They were so close to each other that Fiona was afraid that the guy might hear her increasing heartbeat. She uses to have heart problem since she was very young, now she doesn’t know whether this increase in her heart beat was cause by her physical or emotional aspect of her body. The guy left her at the bus stop and head straight for the MRT station. She realizes that she had forgotten to ask his name. He might just be another stranger that passes by her life for a brief moment.



It was a beautiful Sunday morning, Fiona decide to try rollerblading with her friends at the East Coast Park. With all the work pressure people suffer these days, it is hard to really enjoy a peaceful weekend without even worrying about work. Just as she was trying her best to balance herself on the pair of rollerblade she just rented, a bike screech stop just right in front of her.



“I am sorry, I was trying to avoid a cat which runs out of nowhere and I didn’t saw you. Are you Ok?” A familiar voice sound just as Fiona was recovering from her fright.



She looks up and saw that guy which had offer to give her lift to the bus stop few days ago.



“Hey, it is you. Remember me?” Fiona said.



“Oh, you are the girl who was stuck in the rain a few days ago. Hi, I am Matthew. Please to meet you again” The guy said.



“I am Fiona. I haven’t got chance to thank you for the help you offer last time, let me buy you a drink to show my thanks.” She replies.



“No, no. I should have bought you a drink to apologize for the fright which I had caused you.” Matthew said.



That whole afternoon, they just sat at the Macdonald drinking their ice tea and talking about their life. They exchange their phone number and promise to keep in contact.



It was a Saturday evening, Fiona and Matthew decided to go out for a date. They met up at City Link Mall and take a slow walk to Suntec City Mall. They have their dinner there and decided to catch a movie after that. After the movie, they went over to the water front at the newly build Esplanade to spend the remaining of their evening.



“Fiona, wake up.” Matthew said.



Fiona woke up and realize that the bus had reach Tampines Bus Interchange near her place. She had fallen asleep during the bus trip back and she saw Matthew shoulder was drench wet with her saliva.



“I was so sorry.” She apologizes to Matthew as her face blushes with embarrassment.



“It’s Ok. It’s natural for girls to drool over me.” Matthew smile and joke about it.



Matthew gives her a kiss and asks her to be his lover.



“I don’t know, Matthew. I had heart problem since I was very young. I don’t know how long I can live. I don’t know how long I can love you.” Fiona said.



“It doesn’t matter whether our love last for a moment or a life time. What matter most is that we will always have each other as long as we live. My heart will beat for both of us.” Matthew reply.



“Let me think about it.” Fiona said.



He walks her home as it was already very late at night.



“Ah Girl, why come back so late? Who is the guy who sends you home just now?” Fiona mother asked.



“Nobody.” Fiona replied as she quickly went to her room to prevent her mother from nagging at her even more.



It was Valentine Day, Fiona decide to cook a nice dinner at her place. It would also be a good chance for Matthew to finally meet her parents too. So they meet up after work at the same place when they first met and head for the super market nearby to buy some stuff.



“Oh, how silly of me. I forgot to get some butter.” Fiona said.



“You wait here while I go back and get some.” Fiona said as she turns around and head back to the super market.



“Fiona, watch out!” Matthew shouted



Fiona turns and saw a car heading toward her at high speed. Matthew rushes in and pushes Fiona away from the incoming traffic. Fiona saw Matthew body been throw out a few meter by the impact of the car while she slowly fall to the ground and fainted.



“Matthew is gone.” A Doctor told her as she woke up from the hospital bed.



“His last wish was to give you his heart. We had managed to perform the heart transplant operation while you were still unconscious. He left you this letter before he die.” The Doctor continues.



Fiona stretch out her trembling hand and reach for the letter, open it up and read.



“Dear Fiona,



I am sorry that I had to leave you alone in this world; I guess my time is up and I had to go to a far away place. Don’t blame yourself for it is not your fault. You would have done the same for me if you were in my shoe. Life is never fair, you win some, and you lose some. I want you to carry on living your life happily without me. My heart will always be with you while my soul will always watch over you.



Love Matthew.”



Tear fall from her eyes as she finish reading the letter. The sky is crying with her as if it knows her pain. If they had never met, she would not feel the sadness she felt today. But she will also never felt the happiness she felt for the pass three months. Now Matthew only exists in her memory. He will be her guardian angel for the rest of her life.



Love start with a smile, grow with a kiss and end with a tear.
